TEFL course assignment Essay Example
TEFL course assignment Essay Example TEFL course assignment Essay TEFL course assignment Essay Before my first day in school I would come to school and introduce myself to all fellow teachers, familiarize myself with the policies and procedures in the school. I would take a tour around the campus, learn where the closest bathroom and cafeteria is. I would go in my classroom, see what materials are available, find out if I have access to a copy machine, CD player, video player. I would make sure I got a board and different colored pens in the classroom and I would adjust it to my liking, put notes ND pictures on the walls English alphabet, some pieces from grammar, maps and photos of England to talk about depending on level the students are on. I would purchase few things in case of emergency hand sanitized, tissues, plasters, water bottles, paper blocks, notebooks, pens, pencils. I print the names of all my students for their name tags. I would send each student a welcoming letter with info about me, class schedule, materials needed throughout the year and contact information. The welcoming letter will be designed in a positive manner with pictures and smiley. On my first day I arrive early, stand outside the classroom and greet students, tell them to find their name tag and put it on. When the lesson starts I introduce myself, write my name on the board. I explain about the campus, show where all the facilities are, where to get lunch menu, coats in the classroom. I explain the main classless, everyone has to talk in English unless really necessary, always ask if you dont understand And put them on the wall where everyone can see it. I explain the classroom procedures, if you wan talk put your hand up, dont talk with other students during the lesson unless a group work, have your materials homework and pencils ready first thing in the morning, I make sure everyone understands it. Each lesson I will assign one or few students for different classroom Jobs, e. G. Assisting with technical appliances or different activities. I start with few icebreakers, tell them to introduce themselves in pairs. Each one of them will have to introduce his partner to the whole class and we play a name game after so everyone remembers them. On my first lesson I will focus just to get to know each other by playing different games.

History of the Geology of Earth Research Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1500 words
History of the Geology of Earth - Research Paper Example The earth has undergone very many physical changes on its geological features since its formation. The earthââ¬â¢s continents have been drifting apart for millions of years since their formation. 760 million years ago, during the initial stages of drifting, the earthââ¬â¢s continents had combined to form the Rodinia super continent. Around 600 million years ago, after rodinia broke apart, the continents drifted and formed Pannotia. Pannotia broke apart and the continents later formed Pangaea. Pangaea broke apart and the continents started drifting away from each other, 180 million years ago. The history of the geology of the earth is divided into chronological eras during which the earth had some outstanding characteristics and major geological events took place. This paper addresses the history of the geology of the earth. The Precambrian eon The Precambrian is the era began at the time of the formation of the earth and lasted till around 570 years ago. This period of time mak es up to about 90% of the earthââ¬â¢s geology history. In the initial period of the Precambrian, the earth was cooling down and it formed a crust that made its surface. The rocks that were formed were mainly volcanic and igneous intrusions rocks which were spread all over the surface of the crust. The Precambrian had three long eras, the hadean, Archean and the Proterozoic. The Hadean lasted almost 700 million years after the earthââ¬â¢s formation. During this period, the earth cooled down and there was the formation of the earthââ¬â¢s surface which was mainly composed of volcanic belts. The temperature of the earthââ¬â¢s surface was still very hot but it was gradually cooling down due to the reduction in collisions with huge rocks in the earthââ¬â¢s orbit. It is also during this period that the earthââ¬â¢s moon was formed. Archean is the era that followed. It lasted from 3900 to 2500 million years ago. The earth experienced tectonic processes that formed sedimenta ry basins on its surface (Stanley 55). The rocks dated from this period reveal that there was simple life; bacteria and algae fossils were present on the rocks. The proterozoic period, 2500 to 570 million years ago, was characterized by the formation of vast rifts on the earthââ¬â¢s crust. The rifts were filled with volcanic rocks as well as the sedimentary rocks from the sedimentary basins (Sasso 59). This period also saw the formation of seas in which a lot of iron minerals were formed. There was early life in the seas and the amounts of oxygen kept increasing in the atmosphere. In the proterozoic eon, the Rodinia super continent drifted apart and later the Pannotia super continent was formed. Glaciers also started forming on the earthââ¬â¢s surface in the eon. The Phanerozoic Eon This is the eon in which the earth is currently in. It wraps the geology history of the earth from 550 years ago to date. After the breaking of the Pannotia super continent, the continents drifted and recombined to for the Pangaea. Pangaea then broke into the current continents. The continents have been constantly drifting apart. The phanerozoic eon is also categorized into three eras, the Paleozoic, Mesozoic and the current Cenozoic eras. All these eras experienced significant geological changes of the earth (Zhao, Sun,Wilde & Li 94). The Paleozoic Era The Paleozoic era, 570 to 245 million years ago, marked the end of the ice age and the beginning of early life on earth in the seas. It

The Longest Memory :: essays research papers
Whitechapel is the focal character of D'Aguiar's novel, The Longest Memory however, the author has used a great many other characters whose stories also stand-alone. Why has D'Aguiar structured his novel in this way and how does it lead the reader to an understanding of the impacts of slavery? D'Aguiar's central purpose is to make us reflect upon American society during the slavery era and to acknowledge its realities so that we understand the capability for evil that exists in society. D'Aguair has used Whitechapel and his memories to encapsulate the brutality and inhumanity of slavery. The succeeding narratives further our understanding of the society and these are presented in a manner that forces the reader to accept D'Aguiar's judgements. The characters represent all of the voices of the society including people from different races, social status's and both genders so that the reader can see the position society imposed upon all citizens. The forms of the individual narratives help us to understand the reality of society because they allow the characters to emerge as individuals, telling their own stories with undisguised honesty. The Longest Memory is told from the oldest to the youngest character showing how society instilled its ideals on each generation in an unc ompromising manner and so the stories overlap and intertwine, to illustrate this D'Aguiar has used an overwhelming tone of sadness and despair to emphasise the negative feelings that society created. Whitechapel's narrative focuses on the symbolism of seeing; the reason for this is to give the reader a sense of the extent to which society enforced its beliefs upon people and how much it effected them. Whitechapel has lived a very long time and has finally realized the truth about his enslavement and the extent to which he is dehumanized; this is emphasized by his regretful tone and demonstrates his disgust. The dehumanisation that has occurred is over his philosophies that as a slave he could earn respect through hard work and loyalty; this is rejected when his son is killed. The repetition of the phrase, 'I am nobody'; acknowledges that as a slave the society could not reward his loyalty or hard work because he had no status. Various narratives have been put after each other so that the reader can compare two characters to see the different impacts that society had on them. This Juxtaposition is used to confront the reader with the inhumanity of the views of some characters such as Sanders Senior, the placement of Cook straight after shows that contrary to Sanders seniors disgusting beliefs she is quite human and is dramatically effected by his beliefs, the societies beliefs.
